Food for a baker’s future

GIST Foundation was founded to help people in Africa grow into professional bakers. GIST supports this mission by offering training, building new bakeries, and launching other initiatives needed to give people in Africa a real future in baking.

Why GIST?

We aim to help people grow in the baking profession so they can build a better life for themselves. As their self-confidence grows, so does their ability to contribute to their communities. We support local initiatives by sharing knowledge, expertise, and financial resources.
GIST is for go-getters who get things done
The foundation focuses on people in Africa who see and create opportunities by pursuing a future in baking. Go-getters who want to work their way up – even throughout that chance wasn’t given at first. Together with local partner organizations, we help people build a better future. They can apply for support.

Together we can
make impact

The impact GIST makes is made possible by various forms of help and support. We organize fundraising events, markets, and offer Christmas gift boxes. In addition, we receive ongoing contributions from companies and donations from individuals. Discover how you can help.

Project Bakery School

Mama Kevina Hope – Tanzania

The first project GIST supports is a bakery in Same, Tanzania. This initiative is led by the Mama Kevina Hope Centre, a care center for children and young adults with physical or mental disabilities. The dedicated sisters of Little Sisters of St. Francis manage the center.

The bakery will include a specialized training room, where future bakers will eagerly master the ins and outs of the profession. The training bakery will begin with six students who previously completed their training in Tororo.
