Mama Kevina Hope Center
Bakery and training center in Tanzania
Starting a future as a baker
In Tanzania, many people live below the poverty line and work is scarce. But where opportunities are lacking, go-getters stand up. This includes people who want to work as bakers. A bakery with training room is being built by the Mama Kevina Hope Centre. This is a shelter for children and young adults with physical and mental disabilities. The training bakery is run by a group of sisters called Little Sisters of St. Francis. With this initiative, we offer takers not only work, but also a future for their families and communities. This literally and figuratively puts bread on the table for many people.
In this training bakery, participants learn the intricacies of baking and other skills and abilities. They become true professionals with a craft that has value all over the world. We encourage independence and entrepreneurship so that they can start their own bakery at
. In this way we contribute not only to people’s personal growth, but also to the local economy and local food supply.
